(Posted by Bill)Having lived most of my life in areas where the forest is dominated by evergreen trees, I was fascinated by the forest floor in the mountains of Northern Georgia. This scene was just a few yards from the highway and presented a typical forest floor--dominated by fallen deciduous tree leaves.
While painting it, I chose a few pastels that seemed to represent the main colors of the landscape and limited myself to using only those sticks. The final touch, and the exception to the limited palette, was the blue in the water.
